Clinical Hypnosis

What is Hypnosis?

Well the answer you are frequently given is that it is an altered state of conscious
awareness. Well it is but what does it really mean. The answer is under hypnosis your conscious mind is guided into a state of relaxation, a trance state. This allows your deeper or subconscious mind to be more easily accessed and communicated with.

But Why do we Need to do This?

Well your conscious mind has the day to day task of collating the work of the senses, hearing, seeing touching, smelling and tasting and lays them down in the deeper conscious mind as memories. It takes and stores all the good, the bad and indifferent memories that you have ever experienced in you life.

There are times when these memories pop up into the surface conscious mind uninvited. When they are good memories it is so nice to relive and enjoy them.

However, some memories may cause distress leading to emotional or psychological difficulties and this is when the technique of hypnosis can be more beneficial and effective in accessing the deeper consciousness so that suggestions may be made to change, alter or even reprogram certain behaviours, unwanted habits, reduce stress, pain etc. and also finding solutions to deeper problems.

What Does It Feel Like?

When the state of hypnosis is reached it feels just like being in a very relaxed state. In fact if you have indulged in day dreaming at any time you have become engrossed in your thoughts and induced your own self-hypnosis, an alpha state.

The difference between self-hypnosis and Clinical Hypnosis is by being guided into a trance suggestion or directions can be made towards achieving specific goals. Such as changing unwanted behaviours or habits, controlling pain, conquering fears, reducing stress and others.

Hypnosis is a way of changing negative, old and unwanted ways and thinking attitudes into more positive, balanced approach way of life acceptable to you.

While under hypnosis you cannot be made to do anything you do not want to do. You actually have an inbuilt survival mechanism that will reject any suggests given to you that you feel inappropriate for you.

With hypnotherapy there are no side effects, it is completely natural and safe. It is a therapy that as a healing technique has survived from ancient times through to today.

There are many applications where hypnotherapy can benefit in changing a negative outlook to positive one.
